It isn’t too hard to find a moronic thing done by PETA. Pretty much doing the electronic equivalent of tossing a dart at their website will probably yield two or three laughable moments. This past weeks crusade takes the cake though.

The recent media hullabaloo over President Obama swatting a fly has raised the ire of our good friends at PETA. Apparently killing an insect with the lifespan measured in hours is a symptom of a diseased human race. Well I guess it takes one to know one.

Bill Murray – Maybe the real God uses tricks. Maybe he’s not omnipotent. He’s just been around so long he knows everything.

He might have won this week with declaring that he won’t pay taxes because he is being taxed without representation, but too many people make that ridiculous statement for this to single him out. Instead I am awarding him this post for his other brilliant insight.

I guess the Coach does not think that free food and money from the government constitutes “help.”

Honorable mention goes out to Moshe Kai Cavalin. Sure he’s an 11-year old prodigy that just graduated college and has won multiple national martial arts championships, but how dare he say that playing video games is “not helping humanity in any way.” Someone needs to rent The Last Starfighter again.

For those that have not heard of Stephen Lynch, you will hear swear words, you will most likely be offended, but you will also be laughing.

The first large chunk of the movie essentially brings up multiple professors, writers, and others that have lost their jobs subsequent to publishing work that includes the possibility of Intelligent Design. And does bring up a good point that in order to get published and make any money as a scientist often requires writing on the prevailing theory of the day.

He also said that no one denies the prevalence of evolution, just how the first cell came to be. The film also concludes that to ignore ID as a possibility for the first cell is detrimental to science.

However, I would have liked him to ask just one simple question of all of his pro-ID guests. Who did the designing? Because if the designer is not a God as the film would suggest by saying (ID has nothing to do with religion) then who designed the designer? And so on and so on. Eventually you would have to conclude that either at some point the designer was a GOD i.e. a being that always existed and requires no proximate cause, or at some point life came from non-life.

Other then the obvious (at least to me) absence of this line of questioning in the entire film I take grave offense to the part on Nazis. After about an hour the documentary rolls a quote from a Darwinist that says without Religion science would grow without that particular stumbling block and life would be better or something along those lines. Then Ben Stein immediately cuts to Darwinism led to Nazism which is obviously a Bad Thing so Religion is better.

Now I am not going to deny that the Nazi movement strongly based on Eugenics was a terrible blight on the history of humanity. But so was the Inquisition, and it was essentially the same thing with no need for Darwin. Kill/convert all the Jews or bad stuff happens. All this chapter proves is that humans are capable of extreme cruelty against other humans.
